Wadden Sea safari - Mandø and seals

Join us on a magical journey and experience one of Denmark's most fascinating natural experiences: the Wadden Sea, the idyllic island of Mandø and the charming seals in their natural surroundings. We meet at the parking lot Okholmvej 5, 6760 Ribe, your guide is waiting for you at the bike parking lot. There is a public toilet in the northeast corner of the parking lot, and we stop at better toilet facilities at Mandø. Together in our own cars, we drive along the Låningsvejen safely through the Wadden Sea. In your own cars, you decide whether you want to extend your trip to Mandø, you will be guided in relation to the tide on the day in question. We take the trip to Mandø town, and back along the dike to our starting point for the trip out to the seals, we have to walk about 3 km. We visit the seals in their natural environment on their premises, and bring binoculars so that we can observe them from a distance. On the trip, we explore the seabed and explore based on the impressions of the day. We need to cross water in a single spot, and recommend footwear that is allowed to get wet and dirty, or bare feet. The unique nature of the Wadden Sea creates strong impressions that leave an imprint on the body and soul. You will experience the Wadden Sea through your senses, so that the Wadden Sea crawls completely under your skin and creates memories you will remember for a long time. Organized by the Wadden Sea Guides - RO by the Wadden Sea, we host close experiences also for smaller groups.

Seabed hiking in the Wadden Sea

“Out into the sunset light — home under the moon” The Wadden Sea at sunset is something that one experiences strongly through the senses. The light glides low across the water, the sky gets bigger, and the open landscape feels almost like another world. On this hike we go out into the sunset and home of Mandø Ebvevj in the deeper calm of dusk. It is in this shift that the senses sharpen and many experience a great change in being in nature in the Wadden Sea. The meeting place is at the parking lot Okholmvej 5, 6760 Ribe. There are public toilets here and from here we drive together to Mandø Ebvevj, where we also finish the trip. From here we walk along the dyke to the north and further out onto the Låningsvejen road. We stop about 4 km outside, where we follow the sun down into the horizon of the ocean. Then we turn east and walk home along Mandø Ebvevj — now on the seabed, while the last light of day recedes and darkness announces its arrival. The terrain is varied, and on parts of the trip we go into water — max up to knee height. Tide and Safety: The tide determines unconditionally. We plan according to tide tables and local conditions and we never compromise on safety. The route can therefore be adjusted so that the experience becomes safe and in balance with the forces of nature. If it is necessary to cancel, the full amount will be refunded.

Release the steering wheel, sit back and enjoy the Wadden Sea. Experienced drivers will take you safely across the seabed, with photo stops and tales from the Wadden Sea along the way. Visit the hidden tidal island, the pearl of the Wadden Sea and the island of the year 2026. At Midtvej 7 on Mandø, park the bus and from here you have the opportunity to explore the island. Whether you want a guided tour with a tour of the island, a child-friendly family experience or to explore on your own, you are free to choose. At Midtvej 7 you will also find the arrival house “Stalden”, where you can enjoy a packed lunch, visit the newly opened nature collection or take a walk in the “Stalden” and read about the island's history, traditions and nature and wildlife. In addition, you will also find toilet facilities at the address. At Café Mandøpien you can enjoy a lunch with local specialties from the Wadden Sea region and if you are more into a to-go specialty to take around the island, then this is also an option.
